Secret Service Officer on Motorcycle Struck by Vehicle Near White House

A U.S. Secret Service officer riding a motorcycle has been transported to a local hospital for evaluation with non-life threatening injuries, authorities said today.



The uniformed officer was struck by a vehicle close to the White House.



The officer, a member of the USSS uniformed division, was hit near the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue in northwestern Washington, according to police.



The officer was transported in a medevac helicopter from the scene, a U.S. Park Police spokeswoman told ABC News.



Information about the other driver and the cause of the crash is still unknown.



The area was blocked off and closed to traffic.
