Several sickened by unknown chemical in Northampton

NORTHAMPTON, Pa. (WPVI) -- Hazmat crews are on the scene of a Northampton County recycling center when dozens of people have been exposed to an unknown chemical.

It happened late Monday morning at Greenstar Recycling, located at 799 Smith Lane in Northampton.

30 people have reportedly been exposed to the chemical. There are reports of some people being sickened.

Five people were taken to the hospital for observation.

Hazardous materials teams continue to investigate.
