A teenage boy on a bike was injured as he tried to escape a hail of gunfire in Wilmington, Delaware.

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- A teenage boy on a bicycle was hurt while fleeing a hail of gunfire in Wilmington.

The gunfire erupted at 8:00 p.m. Friday at 7th and Spruce Street.

Bullets hit cars and property, but no people.

Officials say a 13-year-old boy on a bicycle was struck by a car as both he and the driver rushed to escape the gunfire.

The boy was taken to Christiana Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were searching for whoever fired the shots.
