NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Department of License and Inspections was called to one home in North Philadelphia, and once inside they found nothing but trash.

The stench from the home can be overwhelming, with some neighbors using incense in an attempt to mask the smell emanating from the home on the 2600 block of North 12th Street.

On Thursday afternoon crews worked to remove the trash, which was stacked from the floor to the ceiling.

A backhoe was used to grab the trash and pull it through the windows. Workers then raked up the refuse and put it into dumpsters.

Neighbors say they've been complaining about this home for several years.

Officials with L&I say they came out to the residence in 2013 and then again today for a re-inspection, and this is what they found.

The owner of the home is identified as Mark Lumpkin. He has since been taken to Hahnemann Hospital for a mental health evaluation and will likely be cited in this hoarding case.

A handgun was also taken from the home, but the circumstances surrounding the weapon are unknown.
