Woman, 77, struck in West Philadelphia hit-and-run

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in West Philadelphia that sent a 77-year-old woman to the hospital.

It happened around 9:30 Saturday night at 54th and Spruce streets.

Police say the driver of a vehicle, believed to be a dark blue Chevy Malibu, struck the woman and fled.

The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. No word on her condition.

The striking car was last seen heading east on Spruce Street.
