Officials say a woman escaped a fire that destroyed her Kensington home early Saturday morning.

Officials say a woman escaped a fire that destroyed her Kensington home early Saturday morning.

The fire broke around 2:45 a.m. on the 100 block of East Ontario Street.

Officers arrived to find flames shooting from the basement and first floor of the row home.

The woman was taken to Episcopal Hospital to be checked out and is expected to be okay.

So far, there is no word on what sparked the blaze.
