A 40-year-old woman had to be rescued from a smashed SUV after crashing in Philadelphia's Oxford Circle section early Thursday morning.

OXFORD CIRCLE -- A woman had to be rescued from a smashed SUV after crashing in Philadelphia's Oxford Circle section early Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of the Roosevelt Boulevard and Oxford Avenue.

Police say the a 2004 Ford Explorer was traveling northbound on the Boulevard when a 2001 Honda CRV on Oxford Avenue ran a steady red light and rolled right into the path of the Explorer.

The force of the impact pushed the CRV into a utility pole and then overturn.

The Explorer then struck a traffic pole and came to rest.

The 35-year-old driver of the CRV was unconscious upon the arrival of police. Rescue crews pulled her from the vehicle and transported her to the hospital.

She is listed in stable condition.

Police are investigating the accident.
