HUNTING PARK (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are searching for two men after a woman was shot in the face after answering her front door in Hunting Park.

It happened around 4:00 a.m. Monday on the 4100 block of North Franklin Street.

Police tell Action News the 22-year-old woman opened the front door and was shot in the face at point-blank range.

"Fortunately, it was a small caliber round - not to make light of it - we hope that she can pull through," said Philadelphia Police Captain Drew Techner. "She was transported by the police to Temple University Hospital, where she's being treated."

A friend told Action News that the victim was conscious and speaking with police after being admitted to the hospital.

Officers were stationed at the hospital with her, as investigators conducted interviews and gathered evidence at the crime scene.

They are looking for two men who fled on North Franklin Street toward Hunting Park Avenue.

There was no immediate word if surveillance video is available.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact Philadelphia Police.
