Police say a pedestrian was struck and killed along I-95 southbound in Newark, Delaware on Saturday evening.

NEWARK, Del. -- Delaware State Police say a pedestrian was killed after being hit by two vehicles on I-95 in Newark Saturday evening.

She has been identified as 37-year-old Laura Grant of Oxford, Pa.

Police say the accident occurred around 7:10 p.m. just south of the SR1/Exit 4A flyover ramp.

According to authorities, Grant was walking in the southbound lanes when she was struck first by a Honda Accord.

Police then say a driver of a Suzuki SX4, who was slightly behind the Accord, was unable to avoid striking the victim in the roadway.

Grant was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

Traffic in the area of the collision was impacted for approximately three hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.
