CRESCENTVILLE (WPVI) -- Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who struck a woman as she was exiting a Septa bus in Crescentville.

The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Adams Avenue.

"When she was crossing the street she got struck by a vehicle, and that vehicle left the scene after striking her, continued to flee, didn't stop," said Chief Inspector Scott Small of the Philadelphia Police Department.

The 23-year-old woman was taken to Einstein Medical Center where she was treated for a broken left ankle.

She and witnesses said the striking vehicle, silver in color, proceeded eastbound on Adams toward the Roosevelt Boulevard.

"Now they believe that the tag was a combination of letters, XWV 3233," said Small. "However, when police ran that tag through the computer, it did not come back as a good tag."

Police said it's possible the actual tag may be a slightly different combination of letters and numbers or may be missing numbers.

AID is checking other variables involving silver vehicles as well as surveillance video from nearby businesses.
