Police have identified the woman who was arrested at Philadelphia International Airport with a loaded gun on Wednesday morning.

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The woman who was arrested with a gun and a knife at the Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday is an employee of the Lawrence Township School District in Mercer County, New Jersey.

Investigators say 53-year-old Kathryn Spiropoulos from New Jersey was found with a loaded Glock handgun around 6:50 a.m.

On Thursday, the Lawrence Township School District confirmed Spiropoulos is the Transportation Supervisor in the administration building.

In a statement, the district and school board said "The Board and its employees will fully cooperate with the law enforcement agencies that are investigating this incident. Once the official investigation is complete, the Board intends to act appropriately, and as permitted by law."

The gun was found as Spiropoulos went through a security checkpoint, police said, and the gun was found in her purse.

The firearm was loaded with a magazine containing ten live rounds but no rounds were in the chamber.

A TSA press officer sent a tweet on Wednesday showing a picture of the gun.

Authorities say they found a credit-card shaped object that was folded into a knife also inside her purse.

Spiropoulos, who does not have a permit to carry a gun, faces weapons charges.
