CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- Vice President Joe Biden was out and about in Center City Philadelphia ahead of his scheduled appearance at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday night.

Pedestrians and motorists rushing to get to work Wednesday morning were met with Secret Service agents and blocked roads as Biden's motorcade traveled through.

The vice president stopped to share some words with the Delaware delegation at McGillin's Olde Ale House on Drury Street.

Some made the best of the delay and tried to get a glimpse of the nation's Second in Command.

"He is local," said Leighann Buziak. "I mean, you know, my sister lives in Wilmington. A lot of people see him at church. It's not that big of a deal. But this is a little different because we are here for the convention, and it's exciting. It's just great."

Security for Biden's visit slowed traffic and even stopped it completely along 13th Street near Sansom Street for more than half an hour.

Things quickly went back to normal after the motorcade rolled off, headed its next stop.

"We have a lot of tenants that are in this building in the center here," said Ernesto Luca of Goldman Properties. "Just trying to get our tenants in so that they can go into work."

Biden is scheduled to address delegates at the DNC Wednesday night along with President Barack Obama.
