PHILADELPHIA -- The National Constitution Center will display copies of the nation's three founding documents in a new gallery named for former President George H.W. Bush.

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett were among the dignitaries offering remarks at the gallery opening in Philadelphia on Monday.

Bush was the nation's 41st president and once served as chairman of the Constitution Center. While he did not attend the event, his son Jeb Bush was there.

Jeb Bush is the former governor of Florida and current chairman of the Constitution Center.

"It's an inspiration to everyone around the world who believes in freedom and liberty and so for that reason I am incredibly honored that this gallery will be named after my dad," Bush said.

Later this year, the gallery will host an exhibit featuring copies of the Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The Constitution Center is dedicated to increasing public understanding of the Constitution and the ideas and values it represents.
