NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Preparations for the pope's visit to Philadelphia are happening around the clock, and that includes building the stages for the events he will take part in.

Two companies based in Delaware have been awarded that honor.

Employees at Staging Dimensions in New Castle will be supplying all the staging and flooring for Pope Francis' outdoor events in Philadelphia and in Washington DC. While the company Light Action will be providing lighting equipment.

Scott Humphrey, who owns Staging Dimensions, says this is the largest staging job they've ever done.

Humphrey tells us, "We brought in an extra 15 to 20 percent more people just to get this manufacturing part of the job done."

Many portions of the pope's staging will have to be custom built, and will involve nearly 3,000 staging platforms to pull it off.

The Delaware companies have worked on other big outdoor events like Made in America and Wawa Welcome America.
