REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (WPVI) -- Archaeologists have made a big find in southern Delaware.

11 well-preserved burial sites in Rehoboth Beach date back to the late 17th century.

Archaeologists believe they may be the earliest known resting places of African-Americans in Delaware.

The burial site was found on Avery's Rest, which is a 17th-century plantation.

Hundreds of artifacts were also discovered.

The archaeological team will now try to identify the remains and hope to trace the steps back in time.
