VIDEO: "Buy Nothing" Christmas movement
If you feel you spent too much over Christmas - you're not alone.

If you feel you spent too much over Christmas - you're not alone.

A group of people who felt that way have started a movement to not spend anything at all.

It's called the "Buy nothing Christmas," a spin-off of the "Buy Nothing" movement that started almost 18-months-ago by a handful of Washington state neighbors who wanted to get rid of things that were "cluttering up their lives."

The movement now boasts 80,000 members.

Lauren Pineda, a mother of three small children, found herself saddled with medical debt and didn't have the money for Christmas this year.

But she knew she could turn to the Ballad Buy Nothing group that she has moderated for the last six months.

Through postings on the group's Facebook page, she was able to offer up items she didn't need and was able to pick up like-new products as Christmas gifts for her kids.
