Shoppers familiar with the King of Prussia Mall know there are two very separate sections of the mall - The Court and The Plaza. You have to walk outside to get from one side to the other.

However, a new expansion project announced Tuesday solves that - linking the two sides and adding dozens more stores to the already huge shopping complex.

David Contis, Simon Malls President, explains, "You've got this great property but it's divided by a road. It's cold when you've got to go outside and there was really no link between the two to make it a seamless experience."

The link is coming.

The mall's owner - retail real estate giant Simon - announced a major expansion project on Tuesday, and construction is already underway.

An animated artist's rendering shows how the 155,000 square foot addition will bridge the two sides of the mall, and inside there's enough space for 60 to 70 new stores, restaurants, and a dining pavilion, plus all sorts of new features to enhance the shopping experience.

"You'll have charging stations for your phones, you'll have soft seating to sit and relax, state of the art bathrooms, a new parking deck," Contis explained.

The old parking structure outside Neiman Marcus is coming down to make room for the new parking facility.

Shoppers told us they love that the two sides of the mall will soon become one, and offer even more places to spend their money.

Todd Bainbridge of West Chester says, "Yeah, I think it's great. One contiguous thing to walk through."

And Anjelica Orloff of Springfield tells us, "I mean, you won't have to walk outside when it's freezing cold, so that's cool."

That will be great on cold nights like the ones we've felt lately.

Some of the retailers will move to larger spaces in the new addition, and in the coming months we will learn what new stores will be added.

Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2016.
