VIDEO: Making the most of those holiday returns
Whether or not you want to admit it, you may have a few gifts you may be returning.

Whether or not you want to admit it, you may have a few gifts you may be returning.

We're here to show you how to get the biggest bang for your buck on things you aren't thrilled about.

First, if you ended up with a gift card you can't use, get cash for it!

Raise and Cardpool allow you to sell the gift cards you've accumulated.

You may have to sell them at a discount, but you can get money to replace a card you don't want.

Now to returns - many online retailers are offering "free returns" by paying for the postage! That includes Target, Old Navy, The Gap and Nordstrom. But you may also snag that deal on Macy's, Amazon, Saks, Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's in certain cases.

Several major retailers are widening their return windows, like Marshall's and TJMaxx, which will give you until January 23.

Finally, a few more apps to consider too to help streamline the process:

Returnguru allows you to snap a photo of your receipt, and the app automatically sends you a reminder before the return deadline comes.

Slice gathers your online receipts and links to return policies.
