Research shows sticking to all of your New Year's resolutions could save you thousands!

Up to $25,000 dollars to be exact.

The financial analysts at a firm called Mozo say there are five categories that drain our finances.

First up, smoking. They say quitting will put about $12,000 dollars back in your pocket.

Grabbing drinks at the bar really adds up. But if you cut back, you're looking at saving about $4,000 dollars a year. They say just start cutting back a little at a time and it will add up.

There are things we pay for and don't even use - Mozo says to ditch it. For example, if you spend money on a gym membership and never go, try to exercise at home or take a walk instead and you can save more than $2,000 a year on something you aren't even using.

Also, junk food, coffee bar drinks and takeout are all major culprits.

But before you pine over the lost latte, think about the fact that most of us spend about $10 a day just grabbing lunch or something on the go. Add coffee and food delivery and we're talking about $7,400 a year.

And finally - beauty costs. From manicures to blowouts, lashes, facials and spray tans, you can save $3,600 a year with a little DIY instead.
