What's the Deal: Best items to buy in April

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- With a brand new month comes new deals and if you waited to buy new clothes for the spring - you did the right thing.

Dealnews broke down the best buys in April and we start with warm weather apparel.

They say the general rule is to wait about two months after a new season's items go on sale to get big discounts so now is prime time.

Spring clothing and shoes also start to go on sale now. It's currently friends and family right now at Bloomingdale's - where you can get up to 25% off everything.

Tax day is in just a few weeks, and they say with that comes a surge of hotel and vacation package deals.

Airlines and hotels are hoping you will use your refund there. Check sites like Travelocity and Expedia for deals on April 18th.

Speaking of travel, they say the deals are hot right now on last-minute Caribbean cruises with the biggest discounts coming before the June rush.

If you love hunting for a good find, now is the time to scour your local thrift store.

Dealnews says spring cleaning means an uptick in donations - which means more bargains for you to browse.

But there are some things you should wait to buy, including running shoes. Those deals start in May.

Also, wait until the end of May for big Memorial Day sales on things like mattresses, tools, and appliances.

And wait until June to buy a new laptop. That's when back to school sales start.
