PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It all started with a hop. On two feet together or step-by-step, adults, children, and pets made their way down Philadelphia's annual Easter Promenade - now in its 84th year.

"It's just a fun thing to do, it's a great neighborhood, we see people we know and the kids enjoy it," said Stewart Anderson.

A sea of pastels and plenty of bunny ears dotted the parade route from the corner of Passyunk Avenue and South Street to 2nd Street in Headhouse Square.

The picture-perfect day had every 'bunny' smiling.

"It is a perfect day. It's a perfect, beautiful day and spring is here," said Randy Bachwell.

Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cottontail and the Easter Bunny danced with the Philadelphia Freedom Band.

And of course it wouldn't be an Easter Promenade without bonnets.

Plenty of bonnets were brimming with flowers and Easter eggs.

Parade-goers wore their Easter best - or in some cases 'silliest' and judges picked winners from a variety of categories.

Cynthia Young Nelson and her daughter pick a color every year. This year they picked white and silver.

"It's a tradition for me and my family. We come down all the time, sometimes we win and sometimes we don't," she said.

MC Henri David keeps the parade going year after year.

"Another year, another hopefully big success. The sun is out just for us, Philadelphia is so gorgeous, I am so proud of them," said David.

And he does it all for the kids.

Shareema Henry agrees. She keeps up this tradition for her 2-year-old Taraji.

"I just want her to do the things I did as a kid, to have fun, and enjoy. There's also a religious purpose for us too but other than that, we're out here to have a good time," said Henry.
