Two sisters who were orphaned and separated in South Korea nearly 40 years ago, were reunited by fate in Sarasota, Florida.

SARASOTA, Fla. (WPVI) -- Two sisters who were orphaned and separated in South Korea nearly 40 years ago, were reunited by fate in Sarasota, Florida.

The sisters knew their connection was deeper than the strong bond they shared as friends.

Their story is long and complicated. Their father died and they each came to be adopted separately by American families - one in New York and one in Virginia.

But fate intervened when the sisters, Meagan Hughes and Holly Hoyle O'Brien, both got jobs working on the same floor at Doctors Hospital of Sarasota.

Holly, the older sister, had been looking for her little sister since she was orphaned at the age of 5.

Megan, never knowing her life story, only knew the last name that they shared - Shin.

A DNA test confirmed that yes, they are sisters.

The emotional results finally gave some closure to the siblings, after nearly 4 decades apart.
