Man tries to use Monopoly's 'Get out of jail free' card to avoid arrest
Man tries to use Monopoly's 'Get out of jail free' card to avoid arrest: Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on June 30, 2017.

DAKOTA COUNTY, Minn. (WPVI) -- If only life mimicked Monopoly - we'd be living on Boardwalk or Park Place and taking the B & O railroad straight to the community chest.

Well, one Minnesota man learned the hard way that the coveted "Get out of jail free" card doesn't actually get you out of jail.

When he tried to use the actual board game piece to get out of getting arrested, it didn't work - but it did make for a great viral Facebook post.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office says he presented the card when he tried to get out of getting booked on an outstanding warrant.

They say he was actually carrying the card in case he was taken into custody.

"We appreciate the humor!" they wrote - and of course, "A" for effort!
