Preventing fires, saving lives

SPRING GARDEN (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's fire prevention programs will be able to help save more lives, thanks to the insurance society of Philadelphia.

They presented Commissioner Derrick Sawyer with an 81 thousand dollar check Wednesday.

The money was raised during the annual Independence Gala and will go directly toward purchasing smoke alarms to be installed in city homes.
