Hackers hit Sonic
Hackers hit Sonic. Tamala Edwards reports during Action News at 4:30 a.m. on September 28, 2017.

Sonic Drive-In says hackers may have gained access to millions of its customers' debit and credit card numbers.

The chain has not said how many restaurants or customers could be affected.

Sonic says it is working with police and computer experts to find out what happened and the scope of the cyberattack.

But experts say hackers likely gained remote access to the machines where you swipe or insert your credit card.

Sonic has 3,500 locations across the U.S.
