More than 40,000 people packed Lincoln Financial Field as the Eagles held their final open practice for training camp.

People lined up for more than an hour before the gates even opened.

"As long as we can keep 'em healthy, we have a good offensive line - so we should be okay," said William Arizmendi.

Inside, the stands were packed and the hopes were high.

"I think they're going to be good this year," said Ty Yonas.

Fans big and small came to see the likes of quarterback Sam Bradford and running back DeMarco Murray, who returned to practice this weekend after an illness.

"I know he was sick, but I like what Chip's doing. I think he's getting players that are trying to prove themselves when they're coming off injuries," said Josh Sholly.

The Eagles wore jerseys that featured camo numbers - just one of the facets of this Military Appreciation Day paying tribute to members of the armed forces.

Those jersey were given to military personnel on the field as the players thanked them for their service.

They were also treated to a reception along with a meet and greet with Eagles cheerleaders.

For many military members, this was their first time at an open practice.

"My wife loves the Eagles. My sons, my daughter - we all love the Eagles. We're rooting for Tim Tebow so it's just a nice thing," said Capt. Jimmy Griffith, U.S. Air Force.

Fourteen WWII and Vietnam War veterans came all the way from Vineland, New Jersey.

"I'm surprised there are so many. Soldiers and sailors - and we shook hands with 'em all," said Seaman 1st Class Ed Redmond, U.S. Navy.

It's the start of a new season that many hope will end with a trip to the Super Bowl.

"We're losing players left, right and sideways but I'm excited to see what he's going to do with the team. I think we're going to go to the big dance this year. I'm ready," said Darlene Smith.

Fans expect the Birds to be ready for their first pre-season game next Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
