Adama Diomande hat trick powers LAFC past the Philadelphia Union

Adama Diomande scored three goals and Latif Blessing added a late stoppage-time strike to lead LAFC past the Philadelphia Union 4-1 on Saturday at Banc of California Stadium.

Diomande's hat trick kept LAFC unbeaten at home with an impressive 4-0-3 record, one of five clubs in Major League Soccer to have accomplished the feat thus far.

Fafa Picault scored the lone goal for the Union, who still own just one road victory all season.

LAFC took a 1-0 lead in the 25th minute when Diomande made a couple of nifty moves with the ball and scored with a right-footed shot. Diomande's goal occurred after a costly Union turnover.

The Union nearly tied the game at 1 in the 28th minute. Alejandro Bedoya got on the end of a corner kick and headed the ball off the far post.

In the 37th minute, LAFC defender Laurent Ciman dribbled in and ripped a shot from the right corner of the box but Union goalkeeper Andre Blake was in position to make the save.

Bedoya had another strong chance to score in the 42nd minute as he found himself free in the middle of the box yet headed the ball just over the goal.

One minute later, LAFC capitalized as Diomande scored his second goal of the game with an easy tap-in following a cross in the box by Blessing.

Despite falling behind by two goals, the Union kept battling and Picault scored in the 45th minute off a rebound to slice the lead in half at 2-1.

LAFC extended its lead to 3-1 in the 55th minute when Diomande completed his hat trick from close range in the box. It was Diomande's seventh goal of the season.

Diomande exited the game in the 75th minute and was replaced by Shaft Brewer Jr.

The Union applied some late pressure and it resulted in a corner kick in the 85th minute. Anthony Fontana's corner bounced around in the box and was eventually cleared.
