PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Hundreds of people were there to greet the Eagles as their plane landed in Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite team.
Little did they know how much of a glimpse they would get!
Eagles owner Jeffrey Laurie, head coach Doug Pederson and the rest of the team disembarked their plane to the roar of the crowd.
But as they made their way to awaiting buses, they took an unexpected detour and approached the fence where the crowd had gathered.
Lurie, Pederson and some of the players took turns hoisting the trophy high above their heads.
"It's my biggest birthday wish come true!" said one member of that crowd, Lisa Bruno. "48 years, baby, my birthday wish came true!"
"It was a dream come true! Generations upon generations have waited for that Lombardi trophy, brother, and now we have it! We're winners, Philadelphia! We're winners!" said Everett West.
A few minutes later they boarded those buses for a trip back to the NovaCare complex.
