VIDEO: Eagles give back to family devastated by fire
The Eagles gave back to a family of six who was devastated by a fire at their home.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Eagles may be just a football team but for Maureen McGuire, Bill Ferguson, and their four kids, they are much more than that.

For them they are a distraction amidst destruction.

A tragic fire in April cost them their home. Maureen broke her wrist during the rescue, Bill shattered his heel and both had to have surgery.

The family are also big Eagles fans and longtime season ticket holders, but those too, became a casualty of the fire.

"Being as though we lost everything, we were already having a rough year and with both of us out of work, we didn't have money to pay for our season. I felt bad because it's the only thing we have left," said McGuire.

So she sent an email to the Eagles, explaining the families situation and the team responded by comping their entire season.

What was Ferguson's response when he found out?

"I started crying," he said.

"You could see the emotion, you're all trying to hold back the tears and just appreciate the moment," said Don Smolenski, Eagles team president.

The team also provided some jerseys, signed balls, and other memorabilia to replace what was lost in the fire.

Ferguson takes it all as a sign that luck is turning around for him and his beloved, long-suffering franchise.

"It's a team of destiny. I said I'd give up everything for a Super Bowl. I have up everything and an arm and a leg. It's got be this year," he said.
