Mike Conley out at least 3-4 weeks; Ray McCallum signs 10-day deal

Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley will miss at least three to four weeks because of an Achilles injury. The injury-plagued team announced Saturday that Conley has been diagnosed with left Achilles tendinitis.

The Grizzlies, who are hoping to secure a Western Conference playoff spot, said Conley was examined Friday and will be re-evaluated in three to four weeks. Memphis' regular-season finale is April 13.

The injuries to Conley and several other prominent players appeared to take a toll Saturday, when Memphis fell 95-83 in Atlanta. The Grizzlies (39-27) had won nine of their past 13 games and were fifth in the conference entering the night.

Prior to the game, Memphis announced that reserve forward Chris Andersen is out indefinitely with a left shoulder subluxation. The Grizzlies already were without two-time All-Star center Marc Gasol, who will miss the rest of the season because of a broken foot, and backup point guard Mario Chalmers, who was waived Thursday after he suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph missed his fourth straight game with a knee injury.

Conley, 28, is averaging 15.3 points and 6.1 assists per game this season, his ninth with the Grizzlies. Newly acquired Briante Weber started at point guard in Friday's victory over the New Orleans Pelicansand finishedwith 10 points and seven assists in his NBA debut.

Saturday's game marked the Memphis debuts of point guard Ray McCallum and center Alex Stepheson,as bothsigned10-day contracts. McCallum scored 13 points in 27 minutes of action, while Stepheson had four points in 18 minutes.

McCallum, who is in his third NBA season, played in 144 career games, including 43 starts, with the Sacramento Kings and San Antonio Spursbefore joining Memphis. He has career averages of 5.9 points and 2.4 assists in 18.0 minutes per game.

Stepheson was an All-Star in the D-League after averaging 15.9 points and a league-high 13.8 rebounds in 31 games for the Iowa Energy. He led the D-League with 26 double-doubles.
