PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Penn Men's Basketball team made a 12-year-old boy a special member of the team.

Tommy Johnston of Mount Laurel was drafted during a ceremony at the Palestra on Monday.

He made sure to thank those who have helped him get to this moment.

"Shout out to my gym teachers for getting me good at basketball," Tommy shouted.

The 7th grader suffers from hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS).

Penn partnered with the non-profit organization Team Impact to recruit Tommy.
