PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Nick Foles to the St. Louis Rams for Sam Bradford.

In the deal, the Eagles receive a 5th round draft pick in 2015. The Rams receive a 4th round pick in 2015, as well as a 2nd round pick in 2016.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Eagles will get back a conditional 3rd round pick in 2016 from the Rams if Bradford does not play at all next season and a 4th round if he starts less than 50 percent of plays.

Foles took to Twitter to thank the Eagles players and the team's fans, "Thankful for the opportunity to start my career in Philly. Going to miss my teammates & Eagles fans who supported me."

Action News Sports Reporter Jamie Apody received confirmation the deal was in the works Tuesday afternoon, "An NFL source confirms to @6abc the Eagles and Rams have agreed to swap Nick Foles and Sam Bradford. Working out the details as we speak."

chefter was first to report the trade Tuesday afternoon.

Schefter tweeted, "Filed to ESPN: Rams close to trading QB Sam Bradford to Philadelphia for Nick Foles and draft-pick compensation, per sources."

Bradford, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 draft, has not played in a regular season game since his 2013-14 season ended with a torn ACL. Bradford, 27, was on track to start at quarterback for the Rams this season before suffering a second torn left ACL in the preseason.

Like Bradford, Foles ended the 2014-15 season on the sidelines due to injury. Foles suffered a broken collarbone in a Nov. 2 win over the Texans and was replaced by Mark Sanchez, who recently re-signed with Philadelphia.

Drafted in the third round of the 2012 draft, Foles broke out in the 2013-14 season running coach Chip Kelly's up-tempo offense. Foles finished that season with 27 touchdown passes to just two interceptions while throwing for 2,891 yards.

There was more than quarterback swapping on Tuesday, as the Eagles officially announced the trade of running back LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills for linebacker Kiko Alonso.

"It feels good to be appreciated," McCoy said during an introductory news conference at the Bills facility on Tuesday.

"Once I kind of sat down and relaxed, actually thought to myself and talked to my family, I thought it was the best move. I found a team that actually wanted me."
