Teen shot near Temple University campus

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A teenager was shot a few blocks from the Temple University campus in North Philadelphia early Sunday morning.

It happened around 12:20 a.m. along the 1700 block of North 17th Street.

Police describe the victim as an 18-year-old man.

Authorities say he was shot in the back and is in serious condition at Temple University Hospital.

Temple student Nick Ponzio who lives in an apartment on the street said he heard the gunfire.

"I was just lying in bed and I heard three loud pops," Ponzio said.

No arrests have been made.

Police are also investigating another shooting in North Philadelphia that left one teen dead and a boy injured.
