Police say a man was struck and killed by a garbage truck in New Castle, Delaware.

NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- Police have identified the man struck and killed by a tractor trailer hauling garbage Tuesday morning in New Castle, Delaware.

78-year-old William Warren of Delaware City, Del. was struck while trying to cross southbound lanes of Route 13.

It happened at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday near the Basin Road intersection.

The driver of the 2001 Volvo tractor trailer did stop at the scene and remained to talk to investigators.

So far, no charges have been filed.

The incident remains under investigation.
