A big rig carrying pretzels overturned in the southbound lanes of the Pa. Turnpike Northeast Extension Tuesday morning.

MILFORD TWP., Pa. (WPVI) -- An overturned tractor trailer created headaches for morning commuters on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The accident happened before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes, south of the Quakertown exit in Milford Township, Bucks County.

Police say the truck, carrying flour for the Philadelphia Pretzel Factory, overturned.

The trailer broke and 40 pound bags of flour leaked onto the roadway.

The driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Because the trailer was breached it couldn't be moved to be offloaded.

Images from Chopper 6 HD over the scene showed the big rig lying on its side. One lane of traffic getting by.

The scene was finally cleared and all lanes of traffic reopened at 2:00 p.m.
