Pedestrian seriously injured in Wilmington crash

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Crews were on the scene in Wilmington, Delaware where an elderly man was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle.

It happened before 9 a.m. Wednesday while the victim was walking on the 1000 block of Shipley Road near the intersection of Baynard Boulevard.

Police say the man was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment.

The driver in the striking vehicle did stop at the scene.

The car windshield was severely damaged in the crash.

It's not clear if any charges will be filed.

Police closed the roads between Weldin and Baynard to investigate.
