Two Philadelphia police officers were injured after an unmarked police car was struck in the Kensington neighborhood.

KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- Two Philadelphia police officers were hospitalized after an unmarked police car was struck by an alleged drunk driver in Kensington.

The crash happened after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of B and East Westmoreland streets.

Police say the officers' car was struck be a vehicle that ran a red light at the intersection.

Officials say the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Other officers chased the driver and caught up with him at Front and Westmoreland streets.

Two Philadelphia police officers were hospitalized after an unmarked police car was struck by an alleged drunk driver in Kensington.

Authorities say he resisted arrest.

Both injured officers were taken to Temple University Hospital, one with a head injury, the other with a hand injury.

Both are in stable condition.

The driver was taken to Episcopal Hospital to be evaluated.

Police say an investigation revealed he was driving under the influence with an expired license.

He faces DUI and other charges.
