Officer struck in Glassboro identified
April 16: Officials have identified the Rowan University police officer struck and injured Saturday night in Glassboro.

GLASSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- Officials have identified the Rowan University police officer struck and injured Saturday night in Glassboro.

Officer Russell Carmolingo, a 5-year veteran of the Rowan police force, was struck by a passing car while he was making a routine traffic stop on Route 322.

It happened before 10 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Mullica Hill Road.

Officials say a police officer was struck by a vehicle in Glassboro, Gloucester County.

A Rowan spokesperson said Carmolingo was treated at Cooper University Hospital for facial cuts and a broken facial bone.

He is expected to make a full recovery.

The driver who struck the officer did stop at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation.

So far no charges have been filed.
