NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say they have charged a woman who was allegedly under the influence when she mowed down a man on a sidewalk in Northeast Philadelphia last summer.

Erica Zanczuk, 30, of the 1000 block of Wilbourn Place, has been arrested and charged for striking 21-year-old Justin Reidy with her vehicle on August 1st.

It happened around 3:00 a.m. on Academy Road near Morrell.

Police say after a night of drinking, Zanczuk ran over Reidy, from Elizabeth, N.J., as he was on the sidewalk waiting for the bus.

She then slammed into a pole before her SUV finally came to a stop.

Police say Zanczuk initially told investigators that she was driven off the road. However, through the course of the investigation, police say they discovered Zanczuk was not driven off the road.

She was arrested late Wednesday night and charged with homicide by vehicle, homicide by vehicle while DUI, DUI, and involuntary manslaughter.
