PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An estimated 11 million passengers a year travel through Philadelphia's 30th Street Station.

Pennsylvania Senator Robert Casey is urging Amtrak to make upgrades soon before visitors arrive for the World Meeting of Families in the fall and the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

Leading his list - food.

"The dining options - I have eaten here a lot of times, a lot of great places to eat - I think we probably need more," said Sen. Casey.

There is one pub and at least 15 other eateries.

One passengers told us a sit down restaurant would be nice but many remember the station from pre-food court days

"I have known 30th Street for years so it's a huge improvement - it's really nice," said Ellie Podolnick.

Senator Casey's other issue - "And I have been to the restrooms, I know what they are like," he said.

The bathroom facilities struck a nerve with both new and longtime passengers.

"I think their bathrooms definitely have to be improved. It's been ten years and nothing has happened there," said Rita Reig.

"There is writing all over the wall and the doors and you just don't want to go in there," said Gillian Hull.

"They are ugh - yea the restrooms are kind of dirty," said Marie Padua.

"That's like old Philly - it's dirty, smelly, not pleasant at all - it's not even close," said Ted Nicholas.

Amtrak said in a statement that they supported Senator Casey's call for improvements.

No word on a timeline for the upgrades or an estimated cost.
