A police officer and a civilian are hospitalized after a driver of a suspected stolen car led police on a chase that ended in a crash in the city's Frankford section.

FRANKFORD (WPVI) -- The suspect has been identified in the police chase that injured an officer in Philadelphia's Frankford section.

The suspect, 34-year-old Anthony Brown was allegedly driving a stolen car that led police on a chase that ended in a crash.

The chase came to an end around 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in the 1900 block of Pratt Street.

Police said the incident began when two officers spotted the vehicle, a white Audi reported missing four days ago, and proceeded to question Brown.

"The driver of the stolen vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, striking the officer that was on the passenger side and dragging him several feet down the street," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Police said the pursuit came to an end when the Audi crashed after striking a black SUV.

Witnesses said the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but police were able to catch and arrest him.

The officer was taken to Jeanes Hospital with injuries to his left arm and leg. He is in stable condition.

The 45-year-old male driver of the SUV was taken to an area hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police said the suspect is facing multiple charges including assault on an officer.

The investigation is ongoing.
