AccuWeather: Quick hit of snow and ice on Christmas Eve
Improvements in sight this afternoon and evening as temperatures are back above freezing.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Improvements in sight this afternoon and evening as temperatures are back above freezing.



TODAY (CHRISTMAS EVE): After the morning some light snow/ice clouds will try to break for a peek of sunshine. Temperatures reach the upper 30s and any frozen concerns will be gone in time for evening services.



Here is the breakdown on our next weak system:



-Begins in the western portions of our area at 6 a.m. and reaches the coast by noon.



-Main Philadelphia impacts centered around 9 a.m.



-Precipitation only lasts 2-3 hours in any one given location



-Precipitation amounts will be light----less than 1/10"



-Snow is favored along Pa. Turnpike and NW with a coating to 1"



-Sleet and freezing rain are favored in the heart of the Delaware Valley including Philadelphia.



-A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Philadelphia and surrounding counties



-Since we have been below 32 for over 48 hours even a small glaze of ice will stick to non treated surfaces quickly



WEDNESDAY (CHRISTMAS): Partly sunny skies with no weather related travel concerns. High of 39.



THURSDAY: Some high and mid level clouds will mix in as an upper level disturbance passes, but we still see some sun. High of 39.



FRIDAY: A bit more seasonable with clouds and some sun, high 44.



SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy and milder, high 45.



SUNDAY: Cloudy with rain arriving mid to late afternoon, high 49.



MONDAY: Rain chances linger, mild. High 52.
