Center City Philadelphia was definitely for lovers. The chill was in the air but Valentine's night appeared to keep people in warm spirits.

"We're really just enjoying the night. It's just been a great night and we're going to hang out downtown," said Paris Hall, Mt. Airy.

"We'll be fine. We'll get through it. This is what happens every single year right?" said Karen Hall, Mt. Airy.

At Love Park, it was all about the couples. So many came from out of town, not letting the Saturday night snow quall impact their plans.

"We have a nice hotel room, it's the perfect city. We don't have to go anywhere, we brought our boots so we're going to be fine," said Nicola Mrazek, Washington D.C.

"We got to walk down Broad Street, it was really beautiful. Dilworth Plaza was hopping with the ice skating and stuff. It's the place to be," said John Burgoyne, Blue Bell, Pa.

Around 8:00 p.m., the snow and the deteriorating conditions moved in and brought low visibility for drivers.

"It's not very good. With the snowflakes, you can't really see," said Senya Saunders, Germantown.

"Slow down. It's not just your life but everyone else's life on the road. I wish people would follow the driver's manual," said Terri Thornton, West Philadelphia.

Departments of transportation in the tri state including PennDOT had trucks on the major roadways salting and preparing to plow where needed.

The challenge for crews during the squall - keeping the roads clear while battling strong winds and drifting snow.

The work will continue into Sunday when temperatures will drop drastically.

"It is what it is. It's winter, it's cold," said Rebecca Swayze, Mt. Laurel, N.J.

"She has to work tomorrow, I'm sleeping in so Happy Valentine's Day," said Steve Nolan, Mt. Laurel, N.J.

The strong wind gusts are expected to bring down tree limbs which could take out power lines.

PECO has activated its emergency operations center to quickly mobilize crews in the event of power outages.
