BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- It was tough getting around as a Nor'easter moved through the area early Saturday, but by late morning the rain washed much of the snow away.

The snowstorm wasn't enough to stop hundreds of people from taking a polar plunge into the frigid water of the Delaware River.

It happened at Neshaminy State Park at noon Saturday and the goal was raising money for Special Olympics Pennsylvania.

The screams gave you an idea of what it's like to jump in water that's 38 degrees.

"It's freezing. I mean it feels like my arms and legs are gonna fall off. It's so cold but it's for a good cause and it was well worth it," said Ricky Ensslen, Hatboro.

Hours before the plunge, the tri-state area was blanketed in several inches of snow. How deep it was depended on where you are.

If you were out driving early, roads were passable, and eventually the rain washed snow away in many places but drivers say things were dicey at times.

"I had a guy this morning on 306, he stopped in the middle of the road cleaning the snow off his car and I was like, 'This is a bad idea,'" said Mark Rothenberger, Quakertown.

The snow came down heavily in Quakertown early Saturday morning clinging to branches and weighing them down.

"It's rough in certain spots. In town it's not so bad. They did a good job salting but I had somebody stop on me pretty quick and I slipped and slid a little bit," said Nicole Daigneault, Doylestown.

"Roads have been wet, some accumulation up here but nothing down toward Schwenksville, it's been easy for us," said Marissa Sweitzer, Schwenksville.

So this snow event didn't turn out to be so bad but don't relax yet - there's still more coming our way.
