Some headaches in Philadelphia as snow dumped on city
CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The snowfall on Thursday created hazardous driving conditions across the region, and that included the Manayunk section of Philadelphia.
The snow and slush made for difficult travel. We found a tractor-trailer and two SEPTA buses stuck on the Ridge Avenue hill at Manayunk Avenue.
That means all passengers had to get off buses at the bottom of the hill and hoof it up this serious slope.
"The bus doesn't come up the hill because I guess they all got stuck," said Jennifer Kirsch. "So they dropped me off at the bottom of the hill and I am walking home."
In Center City, morning commuters seemed to be having an easier time.
"I looked out my window this morning, and there really wasn't any snow," said Jessica White of Mayfair. "And I thought, 'Transportation is running, and I'm going to work.'"
The whiteout didn't shut down many Center City businesses.
"It's not too bad right now," said Sal Macaro of Collingswood, N.J. on Thursday morning. "But as long as it stays like this, we will be fine."
The first major storm of the season had many people wishing they could be snuggled up inside.
"I would have rather stayed home," said Tamika Jefferson of Germantown. "But, oh well. I have to make the cookies."
