LONG BEACH ISLAND, N.J. (WPVI) -- Heavy downpours overnight resulted in flash flooding in some areas including the Jersey Shore.

Viewer video from Absecon showed an overflowing drainage system.

The parking lot outside of a Home Depot looked more like a miniature geyser.

In Atlantic City, the water rose to two feet in some spots with poor drainage.

And it was more of the same sights along parts of Long Beach Island.

"You drive over the island and you don't expect it to be. All of a sudden you come to a corner and here's the water," said James Thumhart.

Outside Kugel's liquor store on Long Beach Boulevard, the store parking lot looked like a river.

"I always come outside to watch the cars go by because they send waves literally up to our front door," said Holly Egan.

Across the street, Joey's Pizza and Pasta looked more like Joey's Island.

The owner says it's nothing new.

"We are good for it about once or twice a year. It's a thing that we're used to but it doesn't happen as often as everyone thinks it does," said Joe Rulli.

By the time the late afternoon rolled around, the pizzeria and many other places were dried out.
