DREXEL HILL, Pa. (WPVI) -- Shovelers from a group called Able Body Christian Men- or ABC Men, Inc. - made quick work of digging out several cars from handicap spaces at the Drexelbrook Apartments in Drexel Hill.

It was the seventh stop they've made, all free of charge, in their ongoing effort to help people, particularly seniors, the disabled, and youth in need.

"Our vision is to create a culture of service. We love helping our seniors and disabled," cofounder Jackie Wleh said.

Using about 50 volunteers in all, the requests for shoveling help come from referrals, word of mouth and signups on their website.

High School sophomore Varney Kamokai gave up his day off from school.

"For me, I just like helping. When Brother Jackie called my mom, I said of course I will be available to help you out," Kamokai said.

The volunteers could've been doing a million things on Tuesday, even digging out their own cars, but they were making a choice to help others who can't do the work for themselves.

"Being in the cold all day is not easy. Shoveling snow is not easy, but we want to make the sacrifice," volunteer Lawrence Togba said.

67-year-old Sandy Livingston suffers from arthritis and other ailments.

There's no way she'd be able to shovel out her car on her own, so she's grateful for Jackie and his volunteers.

"It means that if I had a million dollars I would give it to him because I really need this service that he's offering," Livingston said.

The ABC men pack their shovels in into the trunk of a volunteer's car.

They're hoping someone will donate a van they can use for their volunteer activities.

In the meantime, the only payment they get or want is the grateful hug of a happy senior who can now get to her car.
