Winter weather causing hazardous travel conditions

The wintry weather caused trouble on the roads.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The snow and freezing rain combination Tuesday has created icy and treacherous conditions on area roadways.

Action News reporter Dann Cuellar called it a 'traffic mess' on the westbound Schuylkill Expressway and northbound Blue Route due to weather related incidents.

PennDOT has reduced speeds to 45mph on the following expressways due to the storm conditions.

Interstates 76, 95, 476, 676

U.S. Routes 1, 30, 202, 422

State Routes 63, 100 Spur and 309.

Speeds on all Delaware River Port Authority bridges have been reduced to 35mph.

SEPTA reported numerous delays due to the storm and asks riders to check their website for updated information.

At Philadelphia International Airport, officials report some delays and cancellations due to the wintry mix.
