Dozens attended the interfaith prayer vigil, where speakers remembered the 19-year-old Wilmington resident and urged continued advocacy as the investigation into the fatal police shooting remains ongoing.
"We will continue to say his name, Kadir Assad Skinner," family spokesperson Lisa Flowers said.
During the service, Skinner's father wiped away tears as faith leaders and supporters reflected on the loss.
"The tragedy and the sadness and the bitterness we feel of Kadir's death, that we may transform that into justice," said Rabbi Yair Robinson of Congregation Beth Emeth.
Skinner was shot and killed by a Wilmington police officer two months ago near 24th and Jessup streets.

In July, authorities released police body camera footage of the June incident. Police have said Skinner pointed a gun at a crowd. Skinner's family and their attorneys dispute that account, saying he was unarmed and being chased by a dog.
Family members and supporters have called for criminal charges against the officer involved in the shooting. The shooting has sparked multiple demonstrations in the weeks since it occurred.
"There are things yet to happen because we are trying to drag the darkness into the light," said Rev. William Barber II, a prominent civil rights leader who was the service's keynote speaker.
Barber said advocates continue to organize and strategize as they seek justice in the case and encouraged community members to keep pressing for answers.

"This family, this community deserves to just be told the whole truth," Barber said.
The officer who shot Skinner has not been publicly identified.
The Delaware Department of Justice, which is investigating the shooting, released the following statement to Action News on Monday, saying, "The DOJ's use of force investigation is pending. We will release a detailed report when the investigation concludes but cannot comment on evidence or our legal analysis while the investigation is ongoing."
