Oscars: ABC7's Luz Pena talks to Bay Area nominees on the red carpet

LOS ANGELES -- "Oppenheimer," a solemn three-hour biopic that became an unlikely billion-dollar box-office sensation, was crowned best picture at a 96th Academy Awards that doubled as a coronation for Christopher Nolan.

The most closely watched contest of the Academy Awards went to Emma Stone, who won best best actress for her performance as Bella Baxter in "Poor Things." In what was seen as the night's most nail-biting category, Stone won over Lily Gladstone of "Killers of the Flower Moon." Gladstone would have become the first Native American to win an Academy Award.

Instead, Oscar voters couldn't resist the full-bodied extremes of Stone's "Poor Things" performance. The win for Stone, her second best actress Oscar following her 2017 win for "La La Land," confirmed the 35-year-old as arguably the preeminent big-screen actress of her generation.

Here are the most memorable moments from the 96th Academy Awards and the hottest Oscar after parties.

A naked John Cena introduces award for best costume design

In a skit that brought the audience nearly to tears laughing, a stripped down John Cena introduced the Oscar for best costume design.

Host Jimmy Kimmel started it by referencing the memorable moment at the 46th Academy Awards when a naked man ran across the stage while flashing a peace sign.

He then asked and proceeded to repeat, "Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today?" Eventually, Cena poked his head out from the side of the stage.

'Zone of Interest' wins best international film

"The Zone of Interest," from the United Kingdom, has won the Oscar for best international feature film of the year.

Dwayne Johnson and Bad Bunny presented the award to the film's director, Jonathan Glazer.

"El arte de cine es una lengua universal que habla a los hilos que nos unan juntos," Bad Bunny said, which translates to, "Cinema is a universal language that speaks to the common threads that bind us together."

"The Zone of Interest" won the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Oscars.

Glazer took the stage to accept the award and said, "All our choices were made to reflect and confront us in the present, not to say, 'Look what they did then,' rather, 'Look, what we do now.' Our film shows where dehumanization leads at its worst. It shaped all of our past and present."

"Right now, we stand here as men who refute their Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflicts for so many innocent people," he continued. "Whether the victims of Oct. 7 in Israel or the ongoing attack on Gaza, all the victims of this dehumanization -- how do we resist?"

Other nominees in the category included "Io Capitano" (Italy), "Perfect Days" (Japan), "Society of the Snow" (Spain) and "The Teachers' Lounge" (Germany).
